Naughty RIR Roo and Red haired son!

I had one roo that started getting aggressive. So every night I took him off the roost and held him upside down for a bit. It actually calms them as the blood runs to the head. But it also established my dominance. He got better.

Whatever you do with the roo however do not let your toddler be with the chickens unless you are watching every minute. Sorry to sound like a broken record but even the hens can be a danger. They go for the white of the eyes because it looks like food (maybe like white grubs). Even a normally non aggressive hen might do this. And kids eyes are so much closer to chicken beaks.

We have the same issue our rooster, he is after our daughter constantly and she is a big 10 year old. He is at it all the time if my husband and I aren’t out there. He will occasionally try to have a go at me and he loses but it doesn’t stop him from trying again.

Ours is going the away this week.

Thank you everyone! Believe me the kiddos are never alone with the chickens. My roo will literally come charging from across our yard at him. Tonight he even charged the coop wall as my son walked by the closed coop with me. As pretty as my roo is my children are number one! Unfortunately I think Mr Roo will be getting the soup pot this week!

Yep! Sounds like the right move for this one. Some can be broke and some can't. He will be very yummy!
