NC hobby farm--what's making me itch when I tend to the animals?

Seems like every time I go outdoors to garden or care for animals (horses, steers, chickens, bird dogs), my skin starts to itch. I have permethrin-coated long pants and long shirt that I can wear sometimes but it's HOT. I don't always get bites, my skin is just irritated with something.

I don't even know what I'm up against, even if I wanted to spray for it. I'm careful about toxicity around all the creatures. Any ideas? What would you do if walking down to pick up eggs daily while wearing shorts & T shirt made you uncomfortable and in need of a shower? It's not like I'm hugging these animals. 😁

Something must be causing a allergic reaction. Maybe you are allergic to the dust the birds give off? Some thing new pollinating in your area? Maybe try taking a daily allergy tablet, that's what I have to do because I have allergies of all sorts.

You are allergic to something. Try taking some benedryl (sp) or something just before you go out to do chores and see what happens.
