NC - My 1st Chickens

I love this thread! And your chickens!

Watching them grow up, and reading everyones feed back is so much fun!

I think I may have to start a thread like this in the Spring when I get my babies!

Thanks so much!
You definitely should consider it. If nothing else, regardless of replies, I think I probably use this space as an area to keep my progression pictures if nothing else.

Yea, most defiantly. Its a good reference for your own use.

Thanks for sharing, I'll keep looking!

I brought him in for a week or so and kept him in a tub in the bathroom. Gave him some vitamins/electrolytes and let his legs rest. After I couldn't keep him in anymore I put him back out there and he did just fine.

Ended up being one of the bigger birds, probably the most dominant. I gave him to a friend who had a coop full of hens to take care of. He was SUCH a pretty bird and I knew he'd be happy there. Half way wish I kept him but he is doing great last I heard so maybe I'll go visit him sometime soon!

I appreciate it!
Basically, I wanted to get a wide array of breeds, some I got completely randomly. But I've kept these and am really happy with them. Only reason I'd get rid of some at this point is if I want to trade or need to make room for a breeding mate, etc., for those I already have.

The coop chemistry seems to be really good right now though. They seem to get along great and the hens don't seem to be worn out at all after I got rid of the two handsome EE roosters.

I'm so glad I found this thread. Lovely birds! Love the progression from chicks to adult birds and their living quarters and antics.

I, too, like a very mixed flock (although I wouldn't have silkies) and that's what I've got: LF, bantams, all different breeds, colors and sizes, plus some ducks. I've started a thread of photos of those I've hatched, mostly for my own reference, too, but I do love the feedback from other BYCers.
