Greetings from Central NC. I am totally new to the modern day methods of raising chickens. Raising chickens as a child has long passed. Noting my name to be Flock Meister, I am no expert by any means. However, one must aspire to be the best and most knowledgable in our desired passions.

With retirement approaching, I decided to convert our small 14 acre property into a small farm containing goats and chickens. I have already had the pleasure of conversation with a few great ladies in the central NC area.

It is my goal to establish a flock of Ameraucanas, Swedish Flowers, etc.. They will be utilized to produce eggs and hatching new chicks for sale to the public in our area. Likewise, I want to be able to enjoy the interaction with the birds while making them feel at home. I look forward to interacting with the members of this group, sharing in the knowledge that will help all of us. So with that said, let this journey begin.

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
