Neck twisting in 3 1/2 month old

she is walking still, i saw her drink, but her crop was empty when I felt it earlier. that is concerning to me :(

ok, I'm off to the store! She has probiotics and vitamins in the water already. I just need to get her to eat. she is still quite spunky. she was picking on the chicks earlier when i was in there!

I'm now worried about mareks. The head twisting isn't as bad, but now she's having a hard time walking :(

I had two different birds with twisted necks so bad they couldn't walk forward and we're actually doing flips. They both were cured 100% within one month by giving vitamin E capsules selenium in small amount vitamin B polyvisol children's vitamins without iron vitamin B and predisone. The predisone isn't necessary but very helpful if brain swelling is suspected as I suspected with my silkies. It takes patience and a good month to heal but they did heal and they DID NOT have mareks they had wry neck. So I think it might be more likely your bird has wry neck and I would treat accordingly. Have patience as I said it takes around a month to return to normal.

yeah, but she isn't really twisting her neck now. she seems to be holding it just fine, she just can't walk very far. she starts to sort of tip to one side and then have to put her wings out to steady herself. but she is holding her head fine now. at least from what I saw this afternoon. she opted to just lay under the picnic table while her siblings free ranged. :( she hasn't been going out to the run with them either. just chillin inside :(

I hope it is not Mareks either, but you need to Google Mareks disease, and do some reading to know what to look for. Once it gets in your flock you may have others who are not immune. Good luck with her and your others.

well, it certainly seems like it could be mareks. I do have another silkie who can't use her leg. I thought she was just harmed by our new rooster, bc he favored her. perhaps it is mareks and they both have it?? she would have had it for 2 months now.

I wish you the best and hope its not mareks. Perhaps consider getting a bird tested so you can know for certain? I wish you the best. I'm sorry about your birds.

yesterday she came out into the run. I am hoping that is a good sign, but she hasn't come in the run today. she still can't walk very well. poor thing :(
