Thank you!I just showed this picture to a pathologist, and he agreed with you on the echinococcus. He has seen the grape-like clusters on human livers before, and it has shown up in stool samples in his lab. good job IDing this necropsy picture.
I agree that your diagnosis fits best.You would save yourself a lot of time if you looked into the diagnosis I gave the chicken. My diagnosis matches the picture and symptoms as well as being the most logical explanation.... "Cystic echinococcosis". Yes, it is common, but it doesn't usually look like that.I took my hen to an avian veterinarian. Samples were not sent out to identify type of cancer. I was able to view the vets findings. She had the exact same grape like growths of varying sizes. Based on my vets diagnosis, I believe it is cancer and not a parasite. Unfortunately cancer is all to common in laying hens.
