necrotic wattle on rooster due to injury from a bad fight

My rooster got in a very bad fight with another. I got rid of the mean who did the damage, but the remaining rooster had his wattles badly wounded. I cleaned it up, put medicine on it. A week later part of his wattle is necrotic and black but not infected or oozing. He seems perfectly normal but the area on his wattle is black. Will it fall off on its own? Should I do anything? just leave it alone? He is eating, drinking, breeding, and acting normal?

Can you post some photos?

Sometimes waddles and combs will "self-dub" when they have been injured. You mention seeing no signs of infection so unless your photos show something concerning, probably leave it alone to see what happens.
