Need a Computer Guru--Norton System Works

I have a HP Pavillion dv2000 with Vista and use AVG and it works beautifully. I believe a trial version of Norton came with it or Windows virus program - I removed it and installed the free version of AVG and it works great. Now, I have an older desktop that I installed AVG on and it's sort of like McAfee - takes forever to update and slows down everything. Just my experiences.

Avast is free because it isn’t very good or popular, people like it because it’s better than Norton.

The reason Avast is free is because that some employees of companies that bought licenses to the PROFESSIONAL business versions of the software liked Avast so much that they were using Avast on their home-based systems. To avoid a long and costly legal battle Avast decided to offer "free" limited-use versions of their home-network product with the proviso that 'it' be used for private, single-licensee use and not for profit.

As to your contention that Avast software isn't very good; do your research first and not pop off your pie hole unfounded with opinionated tripe please; it shows your ignorance on the subject and I wonder why you get paid for your lack of knowledge on the subject?

ask your friends but believe a professional who typically gets paid for his opinion and repairs technology for a living.

It makes me so happy to see this...I'm glad that I'm an Engineer that designs the hardware, that the so called experts, who are actually technologists, can blow smoke up where the sun don't shine i. e. "opinions that are to be held as truths." I get to sit back and laugh at these pompous as ses! Ain't life grand!

Norton System Works crashed my computer and wiped out about a third of the irreplaceable photos I had on my computer.
Since then, I have not used Norton, I have AVG as well, I just use the free addition.
I am getting a new computer this week, and they are installing CA on it. They say they never let people put Norton in their computers if they can help it.

I can tell, If your customer expected you to stand behind your work you’d recommend the product you have had the best experience with instead of the free stuff.

I’m not even going to lie, that really sucks! I recently purchased a service from www.carbonite.com it is amazing. I have a small network at home with 4 machines, I have all of the other machines saving their info to my machine, I installed Carbonite on my machine which in turn backs up everything to the Carbonite secure online servers. I currently have 49+ Gb backed up, every photo, copy, word doc, business article, PDF file, manual. When I place another file in one of the folders that are backed up it automatically uploads it, everything, if my machine craps, fire, flood anything I can go to the website and reinstall all of the info, it gives me such piece of mind knowing it’s all safe and secure. It’s subscription based at $ 49.00 per year, it is well worth it. Try the free 30 day trial, you will be impressed.

Technicians that have to stand behind the software they install choose CA because it really is that good.
Peace,
Dave
