Need A Hatch Buddy.. Anyone Setting Today 2/26?

I think I figured it out. I was dead tired last night when I posted - had been at the hospital with my 14-month-old granddaughter and didn't get in bed until 4:30 AM yesterday morning, and then back up at 9:30 AM - so my mind wasn't working right.

I happened to remember that I started 6 of them at 1:00 AM last Thursday, whereas the other 2 didn't get put in until around noon or so on that day, which would explain the size difference, at least I'm pretty sure it would. The ones that aren't quite as developed are not too far behind, but just far enough to be noticeable right now.

Thanks for your help

Thanks, got it! I had seen that before, but wasn't sure if that was the method you were using. I'm hand turning this go-round, since I've read that duck eggs do best on their sides, but will definitely keep this in mind since I only have one turner, but 2 'bators at the moment

Tried to candle my eggs -prob too early. I can see the air sacs and a couple look like there might be something going on but most look infertile to me

. I will do this again on Fri after they've been in there a full 7 days. Kinda disappointed tho.

I wait a week to 10 days before candling. By then you can definitely see some veining & development.

Don't be disappointed yet!!

You are welcome.
Hope your granddaughter is okay. know what you mean about time I get up at 2am every morning for wrk. but good news on that is, I get out at 2:30pm home by 3ish. I am really beat tonight though so will go to bed at 7 instead of 8. Get some rest so you can be there for your granddaughter.

let us know how your eggs are doing. So far mine are right at temp and I do not add water to my bator till its time for lock down. And almost got my Leahy favorite incubator set. Its made my the Leahy company. I have the small wood one. I will have to post a link to what one looks like. Apparently they were made in the 60's maybe earlier and stopped making them in the 80's when they went out of business. As soon as I am sure its stable I am might throw in 2 of my own eggs and see how well it wrks.

Newbie here, first setting. I just set today 3/1 so I'll be a little behind if you all don't mind me tagging along for the ride!

It's my first try and I'm using a borrowed LG still air with a turner. I was going to dry hatch (no water until lock down) but the humidity in the incubator was as low as 14%. It's dry in Maine during the winter and we burn wood which dries our house out more. With water it is still only 20-30% humidity. But I've got the temp stable in the most stable room, barring electrical outages!

I've been collecting my eggs for 9 days and got 32 that I thought weren't too cold at time of collecting. After doing some reading I decided not to wash the eggs even if they had little smears. No nasty crusty eggs went in.

I stored them in a cool dark closet while collecting, but the humidity was probably really low in there. It's funny how much conflicting info there is about humidity out there! About everything really. I think the best advice I read was to keep a journal so that after many hatches you can look back and see what worked best.

I figure I've got a lot going against me, but we all have to start somewhere!
