You inspired me! I am building a new coop ( BYC thread / Blog ), so when I was out picking up supplies today, I decided to name my coop and woodburn a plaque! (Total amatur with hot metal here.)

The coop is nestled in the deepest part of the hollow, where my property becomes forest, so, in trying to think of a Tolkien-esque name, I decided upon:

The hollow is lined with Eastern Redbuds because they love the woods' edge as well, so I tried to render some there. I'll probably stain it to dull the color a bit (oil pastels rubbed into the wood after burning). Thank you for the idea!

My daughter was 6 when we first got chickens and she wanted to name the coop Cluck Cluck Cottage and so we did. We made a sign and it hung there until we moved. She is 16 now and doesn't really care what I name the new coop we are building this summer, but I kept the sign as part of our chicken history and as a little reminder of her childhood, which seems to have gone by in fast forward. It will hang inside the new coop. I do wish she was 6 again! But anyway, why not let them name the coop? Peepers is cute so why not go with something like Peeper's Palace? Trust me, it will be a nice memory later on and once they don't care any more, you can change it to what ever you want.
