i use two LG bators with custom fans built in both and automatic turners. i onyl had issues when installing my fans. now they hold temp just as they did when i bough them as 40 dollar still air bators. no issues ever and never lost any hatches out of more than 100 in both bators. a neighbor uses 3 for his eggs as just still air and never complains. HECK he bought 3.

i think it's just not a touch of a button type deal and some people cant handle a nob to TAP to alter your temp. i think you just need to understand WHAT TURNING the nob does rather than just touching. the prices i see for other incubators that have a button type temp settings is nothing to just giving the LG a chance and not giving up on it because it didnt give you a perfect result the first time around. my little giants work great! i would like to build my own nice cabinet incubator in time but want to do it the right way so in the long time being that i build one, my little giants will do me just fine

Advice from a long time LG owner--if you want a reliable incubator, go with the ECO 20 from Brinsea. A little bit more expensive than the LG, but soooooooo worth it!!!!

I have several LG's in operation, all forced air. Once I went to digital thermometers and learned that minor temp fluxuations will occur normally, like when you add water, or put in new eggs I have had the same hatch rate as the guy I know with the GQF sportsman.

Once I set the temp control I have not needed to adjust it since, that was Feb of this year.

The brinsea is a good incubator but will only hold 20 eggs give or take a few. I recommend the Hovabator genesis (model 1588). I recommend the one with the turner since it is cheaper to buy it with the incubator than to add it later and don't have to pay shipping twice. Without the turner you can get about 45-50 eggs in it and 42 with the turner. I have used the LG in my basement for many years and had good luck. I am sorry you didn't have my luck. I bought a Genesis this year and love it. Now I only use my LG for the last 3 days up until chicks are dry.

The GQF Genesis Hova-Bator 1588 is a good one. It is preset so all you have to do is just put the eggs and water in it. The turner is optional. There are several other good incubators. It depends on how much you want to spend and how many eggs you want to hatch at a time.

I have an LG with a fan that I have had many successful hatches in. A couple of things I have discovered is that when I adjust the temperature I only need to turn it a very slight hair and walk away for awhile until it stabilizes. Also I had a hard time regulating the humidity at lock down so I started putting a wet sponge in a half pint mason jar with water and that helped to bring my humidity up for hatching. I know there are a lot of LG haters on BYC but I bought the LG originally as I wasn't sure if I wanted to get into hatching. Now I use it as a hatcher as I have an cabinet incubator (GQF Sportsman) and I have been doing staggered hatches. (now I'm a hatch-a-holic)

My LG served me well through two hatches this spring. First hatch was 32 out of 40.
Second hatch 38 out of 40.

The thermometer stinks and I bought several until I finally found one that worked. Bought a reptile hygrometer and it worked like a charm on the second hatch.

The thermostat is hard to control. Best advice I got was to put it in a room that the temps don't change in and if you adjust it give it at least 30-45 minutes before you adjust again. But really the thermometer was the big thing for me.
