hi i have about 30 isa brown hens with 2 roosters, now im only getting 2 eggs a day cos they have gone off the lay at the moment what i would like to know is it true that they stop working the hens when they go off the lay cos out of the 30 hens they seem to only be showing interest in the 2 that are laying any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks :)

In theory yes, just like dogs only show an interest in females on heat. The roosters will know who's worth mating and who will be fertile ( laying) and if its worth trying to mate with them. how long have they been off the lay?

They have been off the lay for about 4 weeks its coming into winter here in Australia

Same as here in NZ, winter is coming fast. Make sure they get plenty of nutrition, feed and grit etc so that they can replenish their body tone and reserves. other than meat scraps or pet mince/ dog roll, aviary seed is a great source of extra nourishment and in winter months its a great extra or treat.
