In the Brooder

Today I discovered that my chicken is broody and I want her to hatch the eggs. We have a big garden and they free range all day so they stopped laying in the laying boxes and I thought maybe they stopped laying at all because of the extreme heat. But turns out they were hiding the eggs in the dried leafs box:
Stray cats will eat the chicks if I left them to hatch here. So I want to move her in a closed spacious cage BUT!
Last time I did that with three broody hens the unhatched eggs died for some reason! And the one time I left the hen to hatch outside they actually hatched but the cats ate them!
We really can’t keep the baby chicks separately and hatch them or raise them on our own (for personal reasons) so my only choice is to let the hen do the work.
If you know what I might have done wrong before and what can I do please tell me. I would appreciate any advice and tips and thank you in advance
