I am looking to buy a Hova Bator incubator. I was wondering what the best Hova Bator incubator to buy is and which one has the most hatch rates. I would also buy the Hova Bator automatic egg turner.

Also, what's the difference between a still air, thermal air, and circulated air incubator?

Any incubator advice/hatching tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I have a Hovabator 2362. Fan and I just got a turner. Mine does great its with the person running it. I have had great hatches with my own eggs, not so much with shipped. Good luck with whatever one you choose, its basically a money thing how much do you want to spend?

I have the Genesis 1588 forced air with auto turner. My hatch rate has been dead on accurate (21 days) I've been putting in my own eggs so I don't know which are fertilized. My first hatch I had 6 eggs, only 2 were fertilized but they both hatched. I just hatched 10 eggs of 15 last night, not sure if the others were fertilized or not, I'll give it a few days before I'll check. But I've been completely happy with the ease of the 1588.

Some places have a package deal on the Genesis 1588 and the egg turner included.Thats what I would go for.The 1588 is very easy to operate and accurate with the temperature.

I'd agree with the Genesis 1588 for affordability and it gets the job done- go with forced air & autoturner. ALso use a humidity sensor in the unit. My BYC page has hatching hints, geared toward a climate like Colorado--high & dry.

Okay, I'm debating between the Little Giant Circulated Air Incubator 10200 with Auto Turner and the Genesis 1588 Forced Air & Auto Turner. Any feedback on these?

Thank you!

The Genesis 1588 is the flag-ship of the Hovabator models. Electronic thermostat, supposedly rock solid performance. Optional egg turner is a great choice.

Still air and thermal air are the same...no fan, air stagnates into layers, can result in un-even temperatures, hot spots, cold spots, BUT....many birds have been hatched in them.

Circulated air is fan forced air circulation...gives a more even temperature throughout the incubator, fewer hot/cold spots. Much better than still-air. I have read on occasion that a still-air is good for *hatching*...not to be confused with incubating.

TIPS: Temperature and humidity are the two most important factors and are more or less totally controlled by you. Do not use the thermometer that comes with the incubator...very unreliable. If you purchase a digital themometer/hygrometer unit from Wallyworld you need to compare it to a known precise thermometer such as a medical thermometer. The hygrometer part also should be calibrated. Or, as for as temperature is concerned, you could purchase a Spot-Check thermometer from www.cutlersupply.com ....it's known for having good precision. Whatever the case, other than fertility and viabiltiy of the eggs, temperature and humidity will be the major factors in a good or bad hatch.

Best wishes,

I hear of alot of issues with the little giant. I would go with the Genesis 1588

Genesis 1588 with autoturner. The 1583 is a nice alternative but has a wafer thermostat instead of electronic. I've had great success (as much as 100% consistently) with them. Still air for me - 0%
