I fought this last summer and it is such a pain to deal with. I had 12 hens have it. I did some research too to see what my best options were. I cut on some, omg I felt so bad for them, and on some I made them little pads for the bottom of their foot. I also bought some thieves oil and applied it to the black scab and it really does do the trick. If treated well the bumble will come out on its own. I seen somewhere where someone took a Pool noodle and cut a small slice off and vet wrapped it around the foot. Keeping the bumble in the middle of the noodle hole. I did that and changed it every 4-5 days and within a few weeks the bumble had popped out on its own without cutting into the foot. Cutting does help, but you have to attend to them more and make sure it's clean everyday so infection won't get in. I'd def keep her pinned up to help with healing. I uploaded a few pics of what mine looked like and what I did. They all healed up but one. I had to put her out of her suffering bc I could not get it to heal.
