Need Advice!! Egg trying to hatch and I dont have an incubator!

THANK YOU PeepsCA!!! Our last egg hatched successfully! YAY!!! Thank you for all your advice. Misting the water worked like a charm!

Awe.. thank you Naturegirl44. It has definitely been stressful! I'm just thankful that we were able to save 3. I will definitely leave it up to the momma guineas and momma chickens to hatch my babies from now on. Miss Gobbles is just to heavy and I'm to much a nervous wreck! haha! This last baby just took his sweet time, I wanted to help him sooooo bad, but after reading all the horror stories of helping babies hatch, I wasn't even going to try. I just kept spraying that mist of water and turning the shower on to create humidity, and it worked!

Dang!! My newest one that hatched yesterday has a little bit of spraddled leg going on. We tried the bandaid thing and OMG!! We got it to close and the little guy started rolling around. It took forever to get the **** thing off. Is there an easier way to put it on? We had him on a dish towel, so I don't know why he has spraddled leg, we had the other 2 on a towel and they are fine. Its not that bad, he keeps trying to put them under him. When I take him out and put him on the bathroom carpet he runs around a little better, I guess because he gets better traction. Will it help to maybe get him out and run around about every 30 min. or so?
Oh, and thank ya critters!

the one that is awake was hatched 2 days ago, the one that is sleeping was the one hatched in the metal mixing bowl ;-)
FantastIc!! LUCKY LITTLE BOWL GUYS...To me 95 might be a dash too low but you can tell if they are cold sort of standing still and not moving much or hunched up. 98-99 is better the first week but room to move away from the heat too..SO CUTE!!CONGRATS on a good job!

Thanks Roxannemc! Okay so, my latest little guy has some spraddle leg and also some crooked toes going on. I had him on a towel so I don't know why he has the spraddle leg thing going on. The other 2 did just fine on a towel. I tried the bandaid thing and OMG! We got it to close and he couldn't walk so we took it off, and Boy was that a chore! Holy crap! I guess there is no easy way to do that. I did find a back post from PeepsCA about the crooked toes and electrical tape. We did manage to make him a flipper, but we were still fighting the spraddle leg and it was a little worse because of the tape, So dear hubby ask if we had any adhesive backed sandpaper, I did have some 60 grit so we cut a little bit off and put it on the bottom of the flippers, guess what? I think that is going to take care of both problems. He is actually sleeping with both legs under him.

He has TRACTION! Dear hubby said we made him some track shoes! Haha! I love it! Just everyone keep your fingers crossed for me. I sooooo want him to be okay. I have one pied guinea that I bought that had crooked toes and one foot is completely curled under and on the other foot his toes are crooked but he's 2 years old now and gets around just fine. I just want this little guy to be okay!

Good idea, using the adhesive backed sandpaper for shoes, excellent traction lol. It usually does take the keets some time to get used to the leg braces, you just have to keep picking them up and putting them back on their feet until they figure it out, you can also put them in a padded cup for a while so they try to stand up and get out of it, and slowly gain coordination and strength... but you have to keep giving the keet water and offering it food while it's in the cup. The splayed legs are most likely from a slow/late hatch or not quite perfect incubation conditions, not the towel bedding. You may need to put the bandaid brace back on if it's not up walking in the next day, the more the hip socket gets stretched out the longer it takes to correct/heal... just try to make the brace as thin and flexible as possible, the bulkier and stiffer it is the more they struggle with figuring out how to walk with them on. (I use thin strips of vet wrap).

Congrats again, and Thanks for sharing pics
