NEED ADVICE - First Hatch Help!!!!

So it started at 7.30pm on the 30/4. 9 eggs went into lockdown and all were pretty sure alive anf well after day 18 candling before lockdown. Since then we have seen only 2 wobble and last night about 9pm one pipped. We watched for a hour or so but not alot more happened other then chirping. I've came down this morning early to check on 'it' and well what can I say...... Carnige Absolute CARNIGE there's eggs all over the place. Its like baby godzilla. Looks fine and dandy and is a very skilled footballer even at this tender age. My concern is with only 2 eggs wobbling this late does that mean the likely out come is that we will only have 2 hatch from the 9 that went into lockdown?
If so how could the others have died in lockdown?

I usually end up loosing a couple eggs after lockdown each time I incubate. But I also usually have 30+ eggs in there.

I wouldn't rule out the still ones just yet. If you can't see any others pipped you could open the incu and candle them to see if you can see any movement.

Any egg that is pipped internally or externally will normally chirp if they're picked up so it should be pretty easy to tell if they're almost ready.

I don't really "lockdown" my incu, I set it for hatch. I've not had problems with shrinkwrapping even taking the lid fully off my incu and checking each egg quickly for external pips.

We arnt sure what to do. The other wobbler hasn't pipped and this morning after heavy foot has stood still long enough there's another wobbler. Neither have pipped yet. We don't know wether to candle or let nature runs it's cause

I'd candle, but i also would not recommend assisting more than maybe adding a safety hole.

This coming from someone who's done a lot of assisting. :/ If they're not able to get out on their own usually there's a good reason.

Yeah we're thinking about candling but it's morning now and we haven't really got a dark area close to the incubator so we will have to assess the situation this evening.

Assisting for me is a no. Years of keeping racing piegons with my grandad tought me never assist because if its not strongnenough it's not healthy enough. I guess it's a hard way to be but I believe it's true.

Yeah, there are times when i'm willing to try assisting, mostly when i'm hatching for meat birds. Or this time it was a case of the mother had died and i want as many of her babies as I can get.

Anyway, if you're wondering if it's ok, i haven't had any problem candling them at this stage. Their head should be under their wing so it's not like the light would bother them. Hopefully you get a few more pips by this evening.

We've candled and as we guessed. The remaining two wobblers are the only ones that moved during candling. All the others however look like they should at this stage but couldn't see movement. Nor did we hear any sounds from them

They're likely gone then. But at this point if you'd like you could mark them and put them back in if you're still unsure.

Most often after lockdown deaths I've found mostly to be malpositions. Which happen for different reasons. I stopped getting as many after using an auto turner, instead of turning by hand. It doesn't completely get rid of the problem but it does make it a lot better. I've stopped checking to see what could have caused it. Mostly because if it's not a malposition I can't tell why. Some just don't hatch for what ever reason. It could be a lot of things.
