I had to help 3 of my baby ducks out of their shells becuz they weren't going to be able to finish hatching on their own. They still had quit a bit of yolked attatched. I put them in a seperate brooder then the other 5 babies that hatched becuz they are way too crazy and hyper and I'm scared they would hurt the weaker 3. It's been 24 hours since I have hatched them out and they are still breathing and most of the yolk is gone. They pretty much sleep but they do yawn, stretch, preen themselves a little and make noise. I offer them drops of sugar water every now and then and they do take it sometimes. Is there any hope for these babies to live???

This advice is coming from chicken person but when this happens to my chicks i just offer water and 99% of time mine make it just let yolk disolve and time will only tell

think of them as "premiese" they will be a little behind the rest. after a week or so they should pull out of it ok.while they have the yolk still they wont get very thirsty or hungry. after it dissolves they will start being babies.

Once the yolk is dried up and gone they will get hungry then you show them food and water, just like previous poster said they are like premiese [sp] you did good by separating them from the others, probably in a couple days you'll never know who was the weaker ones. Don't forget the pics.

maybe try getting some Poultry Nutri drench to add to their water for the boost they need right now. I give it to all my newly hatch ducklings and chicks. Congrats!
