Hello Everyone,
I'm just now joining BYC after months of searching this site for advice on raising my two Americaunas and two Barred Rocks. They were just the most beautiful creatures ever! However, a mean neighbor reported us and they had to go. Now they are living happily ever after on a gorgeous farm in Naples. We were so fortunate to find a wonderful home for them on short notice.
My question is to all of you out there who are in the same circumstance as me. Your ladies have been ripped from your home and heart and you don't know what to do. The county I live in has no tolerance for ANY poultry related bird within county limits and yet my neighbor can have a 200 pound pot bellied pig! Where is the justice? I just don't get it. The only and I mean the ONLY negative to my girls was they were all just getting really good at egg laying and they were vocal for about an hour each morning between 8-9am. Other than that, you never knew they existed. They had full run of our backyard and we were even getting grass to grow in areas it wouldn't before because of all the fertilizer and scratching they were doing searching for bugs!
Is there a breed out there that is NOT vocal at egg laying time or even at any time? Please let me know if you have any experience with them if they exist.
Thank you for your time!
