I have lost 3 chickens (not in the coop) over the last few weeks. They were all at night, and they were all bantams, including a silkie rooster. They were all chickens that liked to sit outside (on the wood pile or in trees) instead of inside the coop)
I found a track and thought it was a fisher, since it had 5 toes, and I had heard fisher-like screaming one night earlier this spring.
I set out a live-trap last night with chicken as bait and caught a skunk this morning. I let it go this morning, but in retrospect, I think the skunk may have been the culprit, as the track seems to be very close to a fisher track.
However, one of these chickens WAS taken from up in a tree, although I guess a skunk could have done that too.
I also suppose that multiple animals could be eating my chickens too.
