I received a shipment of seven chicks yesterday, among which were three day old baby Sebrights. One of them is doing just fine, but two of them appear to be smaller than the other, and are having a hard time eating and drinking on their own. My wife and I fed and watered them with a medicine dropper this morning, after which they were fine, but three hours later they were laying on their side, again needing help with eating and drinking. Does anyone know how often baby Sebrights need to be fed and watered? How long should it take for them to become more active like the other Sebright chick. We've never had any Bantams in the past.

Also, we have two Buff Orp chicks who are about six or eight weeks old (bought them from a local feed & seed) and they were already a couple of weeks old at the time. They are both very healthy and active. At what age can we let them move out to the coop? We are in the N.GA mountains, so we still have some chilly nights (40ish degrees).

BTW, the other chicks in our shipment from yesterday yesterday included two Barred Rocks and two Golden Laced Wyandottes who are all healthy and active. Just these two little Sebrights that we are concerned about.

Update: The smallest of the Sebrights died, but the other who seemed so feeble is coming around, eating on his/ her own, pushing his way underneath the wings of the larger breed chicks. It looks like he is going to make it. Maybe the trauma of being shipped was too much for the tiny one.
