I've been raising chickens now about 4 years, I've have gotten new chicks every year from either online or at the feed store. This year I have a broody...Well I put a clutch under her yesterday, she was sitting on them and everything was looking good. Well today she got off the nest to eat and then got back on the wrong eggs, went out this afternoon and found them cold. Can I hold out any hope these eggs will hatch? or should I give up?

Don't give up! I had the same thing happen with my first broody. Came home from school and she was in the wrong nestbox!

The eggs were icecold but I moved her back to them and fenced off a spot for just her and her eggs. A week or so late I had 4 chicks out of 4 eggs

You should start collecting the other eggs more often to avoid that issue. I have two broodies and they constantly switch nests. I keep the other nests to only 1 or 2 eggs so they don't sit on them. They have about 10 and 6 eggs of their own.

Thanks Everyone, She's on them now...I moved her into her own pen with only one nest...I will be excited if this actually works, we are only on day 2...so we will see!

. I usually only collect the eggs once a day, I will try do it more often. I'm so nervous, it's my first broody I've allowed to keep eggs.
