My broody girl has been trying to go broody for about the last 2 weeks. Everytime I am pretty sure she is gone broody I put a peice of fence between her and the others so she can be alone to brood. Once I do this she comes off her nest and eggs and sits pacing back and forth by the fence line. So I end up letting her out and she never goes back to the nest. She is back at the nest again noticed her there today sitting there ready to hatch some eggs. So I do need to seperate her from the rest so how should I do it. She only has fake eggs under her now I would be adding real as soon as I was for sure she was sitting. Should I wait awhile before putting the divider up?

How old is your hen? I've had young first timers take quite a while to settle down. Sometimes one will get "clucky" then lay an egg and spend all day on the nest only to get up and go to roost when it starts to get dark. When she is not separated, does she stay on all night? If so leave her be for two or three days and then try the separation. Is she still laying? If so, as a rule she is not completely ready to be broody and just needs more time. Just some ideas.

She is 2 years old and since I have had her she has went broody 4 times. So this ain't her first rodeo, She is still laying and laid a egg this morning and has been on the nest all day. I'll do as you said and give her a few days before dividing her off from the rest.
