So I raised chicks last year (6) they all made it and I’m raising more chicks this year I know older hens can sometimes carry stuff that can a affect chicks but has know affect on them I visit my year old hens a lot during the day how can I keep doing this and visiting my new chicks without spreading anything I don’t really want to shower and change five times a day!!!! Any advice is helpful even if it’s just an idea

I don't think it is anything to worry about, i have chicks and hens and go back and forth all the time and none are sick. Just make sure to wash your hands before holding the chicks!

What are you afraid of your chicks catching, specifically?

Unless your flock has a known disease I wouldn't worry about spreading anything from hens to chicks. I brood outdoors in the run and part of the logic is it exposes the chicks to anything in the environment around them, so they can start building up immunity to it.

Ok that’s good to know as we will probably get our new chicks on Monday I’ll send pics if we do!
