Need advice on coop run security

Hi there,
I am putting the finishing touches on my first chicken coop and need advice on making it secure.

1) I have chosen to use hardware cloth for the base of the coop. Someone told me to dig a small trench and bury it, but won't it just rust?
2) I am using a chain link dog run for a chicken run. I picked up some free bricks and thought I'd line the perimiter with them. Will this be effective in deterring predators from digging?

I found rubber coated chicken wire. We do not have much in the way of predation. 2 dogs and 3 cats. Nothing wants to play in my yard

I did wrap the entire bottom of my little outdoor space with it. My hens will free range for the most part as I work at home and I will keep thier wings clipped to avoid them visiting the neighbors.
