need advice on treating ducks that were attacked

Pics
The one who actually did it was going out of town today so she wasn't there by the time they allowed me to pick them up. I don't think Blanche's wound looks infected or worrisome...I'm anxious to see how Tony's looks tomorrow.

So...are those tiny punctures teeth marks? There are some up near her "ear" too. Or are they from where they plucked the feathers? If they're not from teeth, what would have made just one hole (or maybe very short gash that pulled open)??
Wonders how deep that wound is, can't really tell in pic?
Certainly doesn't look infected, skin doesn't look inflamed.
Wonders how they got all the feathers gone?

They said they plucked them. I can't tell how deep the wound is, but I guess it's not too terribly deep or they would've tried to close it, right?
Ah, glad the duck was asleep when plucked.
Not sure they would have closed it.
I would think it's as deep as you can see, in good light, after they cleaned it out.
Time will tell.
Are the 2 vetted ducks doing better as far as movement and eating/drinking?
Best of luck...thanks for your documentation of this.

There's blood (or whatever liquid) in the hole, so it's hard to see.
Blanche is eating and drinking at least as well as everyone else was. Tony had eaten a little before... haven't seen him do much since he got back from the vet, but he's got a lot of bandage on his neck. They said I can take it off this afternoon, so we'll see if that makes a difference.
And yes, I love what an amazing resource this forum is, not only currently, but to be able to search back and see how others have dealt with issues. I'm glad to contribute any way I can. :)

Plucking is what most vets do I think.

Based on my experience with wounds, that wound is not the type they would suture closed, especially as old as it is. My vets say that these heal best when left open.

That's true. I think that goes for people too - I remember them asking when I cut my leg how long ago it had happened.
She's obviously not in danger of bleeding out or anything.

I gave them a fresh bowl of peas and corn as a reward for taking their meds. Poor Tony was so excited, but I could tell he was having trouble getting the food down. I picked him up to take the bandage off and no less than 7 peas fell out of his mouth. It took a while to get all that off (he's not a very friendly duck), but he's really enjoying being able to move his neck again...he gobbled down some peas and corn and then preened and preened. I haven't pulled the pad off, obviously - it's really stuck on there. But at least he can move and eat now.
