My neighbors have a mentally challenged 13yr old boy who comes to my house everyday and, chases my chickens, geese etc. He opens the cages and, lets everything out then says they pecked the door open. The chicks are getting lost and, everything is scared to death. He will even on occasion walk right into your house and, walk around like he's lived there all his life. I have little kids and, it is so creepy...I don't know what to do..We've tried talking to him and, his parents then he's back the next day. His parents are no better than he is. Any suggestions?

Have put locks on the chicken coops but, he's already been trying to break them. I have geese and, ducks on my pond he throws rocks and, sticks at them. He has came in my house several times when we're at home just wandering around. He also comes around during the day while we are at work.

Maybe I should buy him some vacation tickets to West Virginia.

If I called the authorities what would they do about a mentally challenged trespassing kid? I really don't want to upset the neighbors but, I have told them to keep him off my property. It's getting old.

I would never allow anyone, mentally challenged or not to mess with my stuff, walk into my house, wander around my yard, or throw sticks at my animals!!! NEVER, not for a second. My son is 12, and has autism, but he knows to be respectful of other people and their things, and especially to animals. I would have a talk with the parents, a very firm talk, they are ultimately responsible, and if nothing changes, then call the authorities. He is trespassing after all. I know it's a diffficult position to be in, I mean everyone wants to be 'nice', but you have to protect you and yours first!!!

I will start this by stating I was the parent of a special needs child (he is grown now and able to live on his own). If the parents are not teaching him limits and he is disruptive to your property including entering your home uninvited you really should alert the authorites to this issue.
He will grow up and enter a home and possibly get hurt if someone dosen't take the time to stop this pattern of behavior.
He needs to know that it is not ok to harm or scare animals and that entering someones home without permission is a bad thing.
I am very sorry that you are having to deal with this and that this young person is not getting the structure from his parents that a special needs child requires. I know you may feel guilty making a report but in the long run it may help this child more than you think.
