Need advice re: Horse

yea and some horses dont run when scared

my first horse was named May a 15 hand black tennesse walker
who came from the amish, needless to say she was beat up pretty bad just like any other amish horse
if you wore a black stetson in the field with her she would run you down
i fiqured this out when i took it off and she ignored me
well to make the long story short it took a lot of hard work, money, time, blood sweat, to make May into a good horse and to trust people
but after all that that horse was partial to me and only me.

horses take alot and you will never get anything back as far as money
but i alwaysed enjoyed having them

I'm going to post not because there wasn't GREAT advice here , but because I didn't see ( or overlooked ) one of the main points . As everyone has said...get a "bomb proof " horse . Also realize that even an aged , well trained horse might have it's bad moments . My main point is......you need to have riding lessons , time in the saddle , and some challenges beneath your belt also . If you don't have this...the new horse you get will more than likely try to take advantage of it...which equals a non enjoyable ride . You have to be confident that YOU are the boss...they follow you...they do what you tell them . This only happens when you have time in the saddle . JMHO . Good luck...horses are good listeners , and good trainers when it comes to life .

I took a friend of mine who has horses and experience with them. He is being mistreated. Animal control has been called on them about their horses.
One of the first things I asked my friend was how much would the vet bills pay. Plus I need to get his hooves trimmed. Luckily I have friends and neighbors who can give me advice on him.
Its one of those things if someone doesn't do something soon...
