I didn't think I was going to have to come back to the thread but unfortunately I've had another chick get hurt we've built a newer and bigger coop for the chicks to stay in and it's fully covered in wood and the bits of wire that are in it are high above where the chicks can reach so ik it's not the cage this time. I think It may be raccoons or some other animal near my house but I went outside and I noticed out of the 15 red broiler babies I had put in there I could only see 13 after looking everywhere I found one chick but it's foot looks like there's only bone left and it's rotting off or something? I'm not really sure but I think my other missing baby got taken by whatever got this one's leg I was wondering if anyone has had experience with having to get their chickens leg amputated? I don't know what the process would be like with a vet or anything I know there's no way to save the messed up part of it's leg but the chick is eating drinking and limping around so I want to do everything I can to keep it alive and I'm very much willing to get the chick prosthetics so that isn't much of an issue

You'll be hard pressed to find a vet, but you should be aware that in most surgeries done on chickens, they aren't given anesthetic/painkillers since there can be bad reactions.

Damn knowing that makes me feel bad about wanting to get it's leg amputated but I don't think theres any other options other then euthanasia so I've very unsure what to do

You can call around, see what a vet says.
