need advice

We are going to hatch some eggs our selfs this year, we already have buff rocks but would love to try some thing new, what i would love to do is to hatch some thing that is a great layer (brown eggs) and that if we do end up with roosters we can butcher them, any ideals?
 
I would go with BO's too. They are great layers and taste good too. Thats what I am doing with all my extra roos this year....
 
Buckeyes. Mature faster into an edible bird. Might not lay quite as well, but nice eggs. And cold tolerant.
