Good Day everyone!

I have a few questions about showing poultry... I attended a large poultry show just last week and purchased 4 Silkie pullets that are breed/Show quality (they may not be top quality but will get by for learning and showing with).

Their is a upcoming show the IL-MO Bantam club show in Illinois November 5th, and I was wondering what I need to do to be able to possibly take one of our silkies to the show?

Do I have to be in a poultry club to be able to show a chicken?
Do I have to be NPIP certified already? I am in the process of getting that done currently.

Anyone who is show savvy could answer these quetsions for me ide really appreciate it! its always hard for newbies trying to get started it seems

No, you don't need to be a member of any club to enter. You likely need NPIP, although some shows test for pullorum at the show itself. Shows usually publish a "show catalog" which contains the entrance form, but also has all the information about the times, motels, show rules, exhibition hall rules, parking and all the rest. Just a guess here? But if the show is Nov 5th, they likely have stopped taking entrances some time ago.

The website has data on almost every North American show. It also has great resources to click on for educational pages for "how to" condition, wash and enter poultry exhibitions. Lots of good resources. http://www.poultryshowcentral.com

It wouldn't hurt to call the contact number for the show. I'm going to a different show on Nov. 5 and the last day for entries is Oct. 31. As far as NPIP, if you the tester has come out, but you haven't gotten the paperwork back yet, they can email or fax it to you so you have a copy to take with you. Most will do the pullorum test at the show, but not avian influenza, which some states require. Your show contact can tell you if this is the case. At any rate, it might not be too late.
