it was hatch day yesterday and nothing happened, i went to bed and this morning the cat must have opened the top and it flipped onto the floor. the eggs were all cold and i saw one was poked threw and i helped it open up because i thought if it wasn't already dead it was shrink wrapped. the chick was already dead but there was still blood going threw the outside membrane. so it probably wasn't dead for long.

are they all dead, and did I waste my time putting the top back on? I have duck eggs in there too.

Hopefully the inside temp didnt get effected and the one that was dead is the one your cat probley played with...

i know it can take a while for the eggs to cool off under the shell fully, how long does it take for them to die from being too cold?

no i just got the top on them as soon as i could. the one i helped and opened was already dead though so i dont have much hope for the rest of them. i really just dont know what to do right now.

The dead one could be unrelated to the fiasco. They are resilient little boogers. Have you tried candling a couple?
