Thank you! I looked up Magpies and yes that is what the drake is i'm glad to know what he is.
The hen i was thinking splash too but i can't find any info on those or pics

If i breed the magpie drake to a white female could i get his color i know how to do the breed back to get a certain color and i was wondering what color to use?

What about the hen what would be a good match for her?

With the drake I would look for another magpie! The hen can be bred to a blue or a black or splashed bibbed or non bibbed go to callducks.org and click on 08 nationals pictures the is 2 pictures on there I have some to just email me I can't upload from my phone onto here

The drake probably is a Magpie (he looks black on my computer, but it must be my monitor). The hen is most likely Black (Extended Black or sometimes called Self Black) with aging white. Aging white is completely normal, especially in hens. Even hens that are solid black as juveniles/young adults can get a lots of white (even mostly white) as they age. It is the equivalent of premature grey in humans, LOL. I have even heard a couple of breeders of black ducks state that females with lots of aging white produce the best black offspring. As far as breeding a white bird to either of your current birds, it will not result in any white offspring in the first generation (unless one of your colored birds is carrying recessive white). It also will not result in a mixture of white and another color, as white is recessive. You can end up with almost any color from a mating to white because it is usually impossible to know what other colors the white bird is carrying genetically.

Thanks for the link that really helped and the drakes color is blue with a little black and brown.

I will try and find a magpie hen i could ask the breeder i got my grey calls from if she knows anyone who has one.

When i was referring to breeding the hen to a white drake i was wondering if she would throw her color in some of her offspring?
I could then if she produced a drake of her color breed her back to her son and hopefully get them to breed true i have heard it takes 3 generations to achieve that.
My whites are pure white i got them a from a breeder that shows them and they are from her show lines.

Just a question what would i get if i breed them to eachother?

No no age it was a auction buy and apparently the person that sold them it wasn't their ducks.

So east indie look like that when they get older? At what age do they start to look like this?
Do you think these are old ducks?

she may not lay any more this season, since she was moved,, but you will know more when spring comes,.
when BEI just start to lay, the waxy stuff that covers the out side of shell, will be a gray black, by mid season they will start to look more gray to light gray that will give you some idea of the breed,

Magpies are larger than your pair, BEI are bantams just a little bigger than call

the Female looks more like BEI and the male looks like it has call in him, with the shorter bill, and more round appearance,

hopefully someone will see this that know about Calls and BEI and help you more
