I am having a hard time locating ANY small windows to put in the coop I am building for my sister. We share a birthday, and I want to surprise her with her first chicken coop. Does anyone have a source, I have put free ads in local papers, Online, etc. but with no response. Help please, thanks and God Bless

I would get ahold of the local places that install replacement windows. Maybe they have the old ones or know people who just replaced that would be willing to let go of the old ones cheap or free. Out here there are several contractors as well as a glass company that does this.

Have you tried checking at your local lumber yard store?....sometimes they have those small demo windows for sale if they have replaced the demo's with new ones. If you have a window "Dealer" in town you might check there for the small demo's. Not free but cheaper if you can find them. Also basement windows are fairly small and cheaper then a regular window....

Just build them yourself. I just bought some hemlock at the HD and cut them to size on my saw then went to the local hardware store and had some glass cut to fit them. Easy to do if you can work with tools.

I know there is a ebay seller who sells small windows but at almost 50 bucks a window I am not sure if it is worth it. I have maybe 50 bucks into 3 windows.

search for 'shed windows' on ebay. I bought very cute little open close windows with screens there and you can even get matching shutters. And they were not $50/window, at least not the size I got.

I contacted a building supply store (not Lowes or Home Depot, they're unlikely to sell discounted window) and was able to get two great double hung windows for $25 each - I think they're better than the windows in my house, lol!

I got mine on Freecycle. Check to see if there is one in your area and subscribe. A freecycle member had a friend who had just replaced her windows. They are not exactly the size or style I wanted, but they were free!

You might also post on Craigslist.

We got ours from a flea market/junk yard type of place for $5 each. Simple, wood-framed glass. We just built frames on the coop for them to hang from and added hinges, and clasps for closing. We put foam strip draught seal on the inside to keep drafts from coming in.

Here is a picture from when we were building the coop last fall.
