Hi im Chris and i will soon be incubating 8 -10 brahma eggs. After they are hatched, i needa strudy off the ground coop
Id put them un the coop ive now but that has alll my adultts in it.
I dont really have extra money to buy a coop so how can i build one myself whereas ive reading comprehension problems.
With approximately 4 brahmas, what size coop shoyld i figure i need?
Thanks, Chris

Make lean to next to your existing coop. Make a small yard and it will be ready for chicks after they leave the brooder.

Something as simple as a dog carrier or crate sitting on cinder blocks will work until you can integrate the chicks into your flock. Doesn't have to be fancy. Just keep them out of the weather and dry. The dog crate is lockable for safety at night.

Cheers!

It is possible to brood chicks in a coop with an existing adult flock, but whether that would work in your situation would depend on the coop you have. One big advantage of this approach is it all but eliminates the integration process as the adults become accustomed to the presence of the chicks from day one. Can you post some photos of your current coop so we can advise how you might be able to use this approach?

check out Craigslist and make sure to search for more than just chicken coops, sheds, dog houses, rabbit hutches, so much more that you can make work.

Play houses, kids fort. How big is your coop now? If it's large enough section off a piece and make a brooder.

Check out construction sites, if there are any in your area. Or go on craig's list and ask for material, like old wooden fencing pieces of plywood, etc. good luck, lots of people would rather see their stuff used for something other than landfill.
