Need coop to fit town laws

I’ve attached my towns laws regarding chickens

This helps clarify. Sounds like you can have a few chickens in your backyard as long as your flock and coop/run is small and low to the ground. I would look at (and take photos of) your back yard and decide where you want to position your coop and run based on the 15 feet from property line rule. Once you decide this, approach the building department to learn of their requirements and then we can help you draw up a plan or review yours!

I think I will contact the town and see if I can go larger as long as the coop isn’t obtrusive and follows the 15 feet from the property lines rule. I’ll update when I hear back

If I read that right........
Permanently inside the run and coop with no escapes. Coop to be tiny and run tiny. Fifteen feet from property line. Max birds 6. Permit required.

And the kicker........

Violations are subject to a daily fine of up to 200 dollars a day until the violation is corrected.

To strict for me to operate within.

Might skip the chickens and get a rabbit.

"Chicken waste shall not be composted or mulched on site."

What in the world do they expect you to do with it, then? Clearly, the person(s) responsible for writing this law has zero experience with chickens, and even less with common sense! I hope you can get them to change the law!

My town has a whole set of rules about composting. If not well managed there is potential for attracting unwanted wildlife, among other things. Generally if you use a compost bin all is well, anything above and beyond has to go out with the trash
