Need DIY duck pond ideas!

I think Moby Dick was trying to swallow him whole, so he flipped the script ;)

Trying to revive this old feed.

Looking to build a pond for my ducks. I just ordered a 10x10 liner. This should be a good (starter) size.
My concern is that the rubber liner will be very slippery, making it difficult for my pekins to get out without struggling.
Should I slope the sides? Build in a step? And if so, how flat of a slope or size for steps? (They currently use a kiddie pool and can step out of that with minimal effort).
And what ever solution I use, do i need to do it around the entire perimeter or can i just do it in 1 spot?
I plan to only make this maybe 10 to 14 inhes deep. I want to make it as big as i can with the liner I ordered. I can't imagine they will be upset with it only being a foot deep.

Any help would be awesome.

I have a 1000 gallon pond for my call ducks and if the water level is high they just hop on out. I have rocks all around my pond (I think most pond instructions say too) and if they start to slip at all the just kinda hop with onto that as well.
