I was sent this picture of a little Splash Silkie aproximatly 4 1/2 months old.

She did not notice any thing untill Monday,
She noticed the Silkie was by herself in the coop, she picked her up and found this problem with her bottom.

I had her rinse it off and apply antibiotic ointment to the red area and told her to put her in a dark room in the house to rest for the night.
She gave her the little buff to keep her company.

Jenn - IS HOPING YOU ALL CAN TELL HER WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE.
AND WHAT OTHER TREATMENT SHE SHOULD GIVE HER IN THE MORNING/TUESDAY.
I am going to email her the link to this post.

This was them about a month ago.

It looks like a prolapse of some kind. I would have her rinse well with warm water, apply prep H and try to reinsert.

Keep her in the dark on clean bedding that won't stick to the area and hope for the best.

Terri - Thank You!
That is what I thought and what I told her she may have to purchase P H tomorrow,
But after seeing the picture I wanted to make sure that was the best advice.
Because I had never acually had to treat this condition myself..

ANY OTHER ADVICE AND THOUGHTS FROM OTHERS IS WELCOME.

have her rinse it with sterile saline and then apply some KYgel and reinsert ...
put in a dark quiet room and hopefully this will resolve the problem.
If it doesnt then repeat above and get the Prep H with the witchhazel and semar that around the vent and again put in quiet dark room.

THANK YOU LADIES!

She/Jen checked out this thread and followed the advice.
I am sure she will let me know how the little girl made out and I will let you know.

:)

I got this email from the Person who you all helped.

"I put her outside yesterday with the other chickens...she perked right up! she was eating and drinking. i watched to make sure the other chickens left her alone, and they did. she seemed a lot happier out there with them so thats where i left her.

this morning i went out to let them out and checked her backend..... whatever that was that fell out is still in, and her back end wasnt dirty at all. everything looked normal. i think we might have fixed her (fingers crossed)! thanks for all the advice.

thanks again, Jen"
