Turkeys seem to me to be more delicate than other poultry. They need to be carefully sheltered until they are fully feathered. I try to keep them out of the rain, wind etc. until they are fairly large. The heritage breeds are good at flying. The Broad Breasted are not. The Broad Breasted seem to have more health problems. They need to have a high protein feed. I also recommend reading the post called give me the dirt on turkeys, and searching for more information with the B.Y.C. search feature.
