Thanks guys.
We have called the police.. they did put some kind of alert on his vehicle..thats how we found out about the van tonight.
But they said that he didnt meet the critria for an actual "missing persons" alert to be placed. whatever thats supposed to mean..
So i said to them.."even with this new development with the stolen van turning up tonight?" and they said.. " its not actually stolen until the owner reports it stolen..."..
so then i said." HOW exactly do you DO you report your vehicle stolen when your a missing person!?"..
Ugh... we are SO frustrated!
They did say that if they were going to try something with the cell phone tonight..(cant remember what.. trace it? Or something..) and if they didnt hear from him by midnight..then they would place a missings persons.. (because we pressed them to do it..)
We called rehabs... they wont give any info... all that new medical hippa privacy act stuff..

Tommorrw hubby and i are going to the homeless shelter in the city... he has gone there before when hes messed up...
But again..hes ALWAYS called us. Thats why we're so worried.
So anyways... we'll go looking there tomorrow..

That is so frustraing when you cant get far with the police, hopefully tehy can track his cell phone to see where teh call was answered at, i hope thats what they are doing.

it doesn't sound like a good situation. i really hope it turns out to be less bad than it seems. fingers crossed for it to all be a misunderstanding. my uncle went missing in the dead of winter. he lives in his car, but doesn't drink anymore. anyway, he was just gone. missed his aa appt, missed dinner at his brother's house, etc. was missing for 2 weeks, we were calling morgues, his phone was off, we were giving up. then he called. he'd left his phone behind and driven to mexico on a whim. was totally fine. I hope the same kind of forehead-slapping ridiculous mistake for your BIL.
