Need experienced geese opinions! =)

You have time to find some breeders other than Holderreads who is kind of pricey.
I have a friend that has buff and lavender Americans.
I can PM you her email address.
Shes a reputable breeder and 100% trustworthy.
You can also get day old Americans from a number of commerical hatcheries. Theres no need to spend alot on them (i.e. Holdrreads) unless you plan to show.
If they're going to be just pets I'd recommend getting them from a place like Metzers.
On the other hand if you're going to breed them I would recommend getting just one breed to start out with unless you have or are able to build 2 breeding pens and shelters.

I Pm'd you Cottage Rose.

I know for sure that I want to get Indian Runners from them, and some of the harder to find duck breeds.
I mostly want them (geese) as pets, but if I decide to sell some, I'd like to make sure they're good examples of the breed.

I'm late to the conversation here, but I have a pair of regular quality Pilgrims from Holderreads (hatched early April '08) and 4 Dutch Hookbill ducks and I love them all! Here are some pictures:

They are strong, healthy and very gentle even when harassed by a 2 year-old. The geese do delight in chasing my little papillion around and trying to bite his tail!
The bibbed duck is named Georgina because she was recently lame (Lame Duck.... get it?) and I caught her to look at the leg one day. Her boyfriend walked right up to me and gave me an indignant look and then started biting my boot until I put her down! These guys crack me up. I love my chickens, but the waterfowl are just something else!

My guess is the duck probably has bumblefoot. This can happen in winter when theyr'e walking a lot of frozen ground.

Gorgeous geese, by the way. There is something in the eye of a goose that makes you think there is a lot going on inside thier heads'.

I have more questions.Lol.
I'm planning to get some ducks from holderreads
So I want to have an area and house ready for them.
1. can baby geese be raised with baby ducks? Provided they have enough space?
2. How much square footage does each grown duck need for a shelter? Geese?
Thanks for the pictures raindrop your animals are beautiful! I'll have to keep the chihuahuas in the house it sounds like Lol
