Need expert help with Pyrethrins or Fipronil please!!! Getting desperate with external parasites...

I'm sure you can use the dust in the cracks too.
I just think it is easier to spray the cracks and the birds.

I am wondering if the protection instructions are just legal overkill again or if it is necessary to wear chemical-resistant gloves?

1. I don't have any

2. it is not practical in the heat and with the birds, trying to apply this stuff

also, one section talks about misting the enclosed area above the poultry with closed windows and doors and leave the area immediately for 15 min. - to air out before re-entering - so what about the birds breathing it then???

I guess if they get slaughtered in 8 weeks it does not matter?

but what it they are extended family members?

wonder if the dust would be easier to get off my skin than the liquid, if I got some on me, what do you think? I could wear a dust mask for breathing, I have one of those, but no gloves...

Thank you so much for sticking this our with me, KikisGirls!

I know it is ultimately my decision and responsibility but it means a lot (!!!) not to be all alone when having to face these decisions

I know it is not that bad when you consider what else is going on in the world, but at the moment, when you are in the middle of it, it can be overwhelming

we love our birds and there just is not enough information to make easy decisions - so many things are a best guess and they often die in the end, so it is easy to second guess yourself and be upset - I guess that is the lot of poultry lovers :love :jumpy

Dotty (the one that was real sick last week) got back on his feet yesterday - so happy - he is still super-thin but looks like he will live for now! :wee

I am trying to get this done tonight before midnight to get some sleep for a change - already 9:30 pm here - Dotty will not be treated right now until he get a little better still

Kill the bugs.
You got this.

Don't over think it.
It's easy...(once you figure out how must to mix, if you use the liquid) to walk in there and spray each bird.
Keep it simple.
You don't have to drench them.
I would drench the coop though.

Can you do the coop once they are in the run or out running the streets...I mean yard?

I think the formulary book I have says to powder the plumage but I am afraid of the dust everywhere in an enclosed coop if they flutter up to the roosting bars or quarrel and chase each other or shake themselves to get rid of the stuff in an enclosed coop

but at night when they roost is pretty much the only time I can catch them practically - unless I do it tomorrow before I let them out to free range but then the bees etc get more dose outside - and the bugs seem to get them the most at night so I'd like to try it at night to see if it helps them immediately and would target the culprits the hardest
Can you go out and spray the coop now before they go in for the night?

you're right - the deciding is the worst - once in action it is often not so bad

yeah - I think I will start dusting tonight to keep the product off their skin and in the feathers more and see if it works at all

and mix a liquid batch tomorrow and hit the roosting bars etc.

thanks so much for hanging with me again :hugs
