Need expert help with Pyrethrins or Fipronil please!!! Getting desperate with external parasites...

I was a good girl, KikisGirls, ha ha!

I am also un-happy to report that I am fast climbing the Guineas' least popular list,
currently ranking above a tarantula and just below the creature from the black lagoon.

Venomous snakes are like fluffy pink ponies compared to me, and the words "I am just trying to help you!" cause wide spread panic in the coop now, with a "Save yourselves! Every bird for her- or him-self!" reaction.

Did I mention that they don't like me very much right now? :rant

I think I would enjoy having chickens some day. I hear they can be quite tame. Guineas not so much...
 
Yeah, they are nuts - that's why we were made for each other!

:D I'm really in love with Guineas, actually.

I hope this treatment works now. I thought they were a little better tonight already - I treated with Ivermectin Monday - but it was still there - hope the combination of pest control agents will work - really frustrating that we cannot identify the pest - that would be a huge advantage - and I hope I don't lose any over this - hope they can gain their condition back - some of my favorite flock members are badly affected

I had mites for the first time ever not long ago. We have had quite a lot of rain and hot here so I think that may have been a contributing factor. I used Permethrins spray. I sprayed the inside of the coops totally, walls, roosts, floors, nest, boxes, everywhere. I did go in and spray the birds when they were roosting not in their faces but along their backs and behinds. I got rid of the mites. I have been spraying the coops weekly.

I really am not familiar with guinea stuff.
But worms keep coming to mind.
I'll look tomorrow for some real guinea peeps that might be able to help with what has cause your boy to get thin.

I think permethrins are the synthetic version of the pyrethrins, or something like that, so maybe this will work, if it is mites, argh! we have little flies, too - I am spraying them (on the ceiling) with poultry protector and that seems to help

will treat coop with pyrethrins tomorrow

I do worry about that - they are thin and weakened and that means anything can hurt them easily...

as far as worms: I use ivermectin and have used fenbendazole in the past - not lately - and have done fecal floats at the vet's and at home (I used saturated Epsom salt solution and I have a nice dark field microscope) and never have seen much of a worm infestation - vet always says there are none - so I am not sure about that even though I know that is a common cause of poor health/weight

I do feed meal worms from China and have been wondering about the content of their feed/makeup and the birds get regular white millet, so not sure what is in that, but otherwise only organic feed - from a local source or Kalmbach Layer pellets

they also free range and should be getting plenty of bugs and grasses free choice

always have clean water

so I am puzzled about their poor condition

maybe too crowded? I can't think of anything else
