Zelda is short for "Grishild" so it IS a German name. Means "Gray warrior"

Dogs can have more than one name, you know! She can have a middle name or nickname of "Ilsa"....just use them together to get her used to both names and she'll get so she responds to both/either.

My favorite German name is "Eike"~~can be used for a boy or girl. A dear friend was named this by her German mother and I loved the sound of it...they pronounced it "Ikie". I just googled it and found it means a "sharp sword"...
