if they make you take a glucose tolerance test ill just give you a heads up if they give you a bright green drink to have for it thats meant to be lemonade flavor... it tastes horrible!!!!!!!!!
ive recently been diagnosed with PCOS too... lots of drs appointments -.- no fun interfering with my school work!
If your Dr thinks you have PCOS - have your insulin levels checked - not just glucose tolerance!
For some reason Drs around here never check insulin levels on their patients and thank goodness my Dr thought to check mine a few years ago! I always passed glucose tests, but my insulin level was more than 10x the maximum limit! A few years on Metformin and I lost over 50# and I no longer had symptoms of PCOS.
Wow , how did I miss this thread!?!?!?! I am so glad you are ok, Terrah!
Dacs, mechanics never fix their cars, carpenters never fix cabinets, IT guys never update my PC, nurses never take care of themselves. It is the nature of the beast.
Well, I called my regular ARNP and asked her about the glucose tolerence test as well as the insulin level check, and I have an appointment for a week from Friday for an official "diagnosis and treatment" plan. I asked her if she was willing to treat me, since I had already done the um.. "exam"... part. I feel much more comfortable with her than the OB/GYN's here. Let's just say that if I ever have children, it won't be here
Anyhow, I will keep you updated. Reading Belle's and Nicola's posts as well as more information about PCOS it was like a light clicked on, and all of my symptoms fell into place.
