Need grounding rod ideas for electric netting (3ft grounding rod)

It depends... if your ground tends to be wet, then you can get by with a shorter and less conductive rod...

The drier your soil, the more conductive and longer your rod needs to be...

So, nice wet soil, sure, a metal tent stake might work fine, or a regular t-post.

When I have an electric fence close enough to a building with electricity, I use the building's grounding rod...

... but again... the kind of ground you have determines if you can fudge or not.

The grounding rod is the most difficult part of setting up electric fencing. I watched YouTube videos of strong men that could barely get them in the ground. It's frustrating.

Eh... depends on the ground...

Where my sister lives . You probably need dynamite to get a grounding rod into the ground...

Me, I have soft dirt and few rocks... a few whacks can get a metal pole a couple of feet into the ground.

LOL...I have a big sledge hammer that I have pounded tposts in the ground, so hopefully at my new place I can try that.

I read your Coop Journey...do you use electric, since you have all that snow?

Nope... not for chickens...

But in the past I had horses and goats.

I used electric for them, and had a portable electric fence for the horses, so I could move them all over in the summer.

I agree with what you are saying, but the OP is purchasing a $6 rod, and the shipping is the issue. 3 foot 1/2 inch GALVANIZED, ( Not Copper) and weighs 2 pounds.
A 3 foot copper rod is somewhat pricier.
