Need hatch buddies for or close to the 18th!

Got home this evening and my bator was at 104. I don't know how, it was steady at `100 all day long, I left this evening and it even cooled down in the house and outside, and the stupid thing went up!!!!
Ugh Ugh Ugh! It seems that nothing is going right. I bought a new flashlight to try to get a better view into the eggs and I did see movement in a couple eggs. Not sure HOW MUCH I should be seeing though on day 11?

Do you have a still air? That wouldn't be that bad for a while. You may want to turn it down a bit if you are worried it will do it again. At this point, the chicks are far enough along, they pretty much just need to be kept warm, but not too warm. They were probably getting a bit warm there, but again, if it's still air, not to worry too much. Forced air should be around 99.5. It sounds like you are seeing good things..so, the waiting game goes on.

How many days until lock down? I know some are different.. I have 3 days! To wait. I don't count the actual day.

Tuesday will be here before I know it. I will get everything pretty much done for lock down on Mon. night. Then they will be out of the turner, laying on their sides..that's after I do one more candling, and then, it's the real waiting game..or should I say watch game. lol..I start watching pretty good the day before the due date. Pips are just plain fun to see.

Well today is lockdown for one batch, but on candling, it looks like only 2 out of 7 have any chance (started with 9, 1 wept, 1 I dropped, oops). I'm okay with that; 4 had detached air cells (the one that wept was one of those) and none of the ones with detached air cells developed. So, out of the 5 remaining, minus the dropped one, I'm doing 50% (warped chicken math) so far.

For the second batch, which are due 2 days later, it looks like I have 6 out of 8 looking good. Woo hoo! Those are coronation sussex and split coronation/lt sussex. While I really like ee's (which is what the first batch is), I was planning on using them as practice eggs. I'm still not counting my chicks before they hatch though.

Good idea..not counting chicks before they hatch. I remember you telling your story of the dropped egg...to funny, you really had me laughing...sorry, but you did a good job writing that one up, I could just see the whole thing happening..not funny at the time I'm sure, and hoping there weren't any "oops words" said at the time.

Well, maybe you will get those two EE's to hatch. Crossing my fingers for you. Now on your sussex, do have a chance at getting a lavender? One of my fav. colors.

So, when those two EE's hatch...we need pictures..you know that right????

No chance at Lavender. I was going for the Coronation and I already have light, so I wanted more of those.

Of course, there will be pics IF I'm lucky enough to have any actually hatch.
