jen, I have air sacs happen often, just like any other egg, sometimes they are ok, sometimes not.

QJ, I'm with you on liking that cmom's brooder! Wow, that's is way nice. cmom, have to ask, what do you do with all of your chicks? You must live on a large place..just a little jealous here..I wish I lived on a nice sized farm.

Guess what everyone??? Yep, I've got a pip. Came home from the drs offfice, and the other dark one I had has pipped. Probably will stay the same all day, and hatch while I'm asleep. Went out to check on broody mom, she was up getting a drink! Her egg was still warm, but doesn't she know that her egg is on lock down? I was worried about this, because she is just a week out with her broodiness...but, having said that, I was one of those that watched those eaglets hatch..Decorahs eagles. One egg at a time, days apart, and one, with a hole in it hatching, while mom, or dad, was up and around looking at the others. So, if that thick membrane can be broken through, in the cold of the spring, and hatch out just fine, maybe this little guy inside has a chance. If nothing happens by the 22nd day, I'm taking a flash light out there!

blood? hmmm, not sure about that one. I've never experienced blood with just a pip. Let us know!

Me neither. It's rather odd. No further activity from it. Weirdness.

Yeah, Goober had my hopes up. I checked on him this morning and he was looking ok, then I went back to bed and when I got up again at 9:30, he had died. But the other five all look healthy and look really good. They are in the same brooder as the two ee's I hatched earlier and they are all getting along great. I was afraid there might be some pecking, but no.

I am suffering from severe brooder envy now. That is such an awesome setup! I knew my aquarium to rubbermaid tub setup was lame, but I did not imagine something soooo attractive, yet functional. The commercial ones with the trays under the lights stacked up on top of each other have never appealed, but WOW, that brooder is spectacular.

Good luck to everyone. Please keep us updated. I'm almost sad I'm done. I can see how this could get addictive. Unfortunately, I really have enough chickens right now. (Since my city only allows 8 and I might have one or two more than that.) But only the ones laying count, right.
