Need hatching buddy! Setting 5 duck and 5 hen eggs Sat 1/16

I did good overall the ones that had so many empties were purchased from another member I am crossing my fingers that the ones left will be enough to give me a pretty good start for blue orpingtons and of course hoping for more hens than roos but you know how that goes

OMG we are getting so close!! I dragged out teh brooder stuff today and started getting everything ready. I can't wait to find out how you all did... so when do they start to hatch... somewhere in lockdown or is it at 21 days +
also... how long do we wait before we take them out?

I'm living it. Most of my eggs are dark chocolate brown (BCM) the others are green and blue. I don't know how well developed they are but haven't had any stink or explode, I've seen air sacs and felt some little bodies move from within the eggs. Next time I'll need to set a few white or pale eggs so I can appreciate all of it firsthand. This time I'm living through you all and my little glimmers of hope!

I put mine in the bator on Sat. evening 15th!!! They are at my friends house (using her bator) so I'll be candling them this coming Sat.!!!! Keep these little silky eggies in your prayers!!! They need it! This was my first experience incubating and when I initially put them in I had the bator spike to 112 and then come down to 104 and FINALLY settled in again at 99 (what it was at for 48 hours before I put them in!!!)

I've read that we should keep the chicks under lockdown for upto 2 days after the first one hatches and not to open prematurely and affect the humidity/temp. I sooooo hope I have hatchlings this time.

I just waited until each individual chick was dry and fluffy and them moved them one at a time to the brooder. I only hatched 7 so this may not be practical for a larger hatch.

I put 14 in there with hopes that i would get a 50% hatch and pull 7 or 8 out. I would keep pullets so I figure there will be 4-5... I never took into consideration the possibility of all 14 hatching ba ha ha ha we will know this week!

I could just about cry! Last night I was checking out this site, took a break to check my Suro, opened it repositioned an egg that had moved, put the lid back on and came back to computer. Not long after I heard a crash in the kitchen. The lid fell off the counter when the cradle rocked it forward and 2 hunks of plastic broke off, the water bottle spilled all over,...

The eggs seemed fine(?) so I put them in the LG for the time being. My DH krazy glued the lid back together so I'll try starting it up again this am. Frazzled is an understatement!

If the Suro fires up again I'll try to move the BCM back to it for lockdown. Am starting to think my 1st attempt at this may have been a warning to me...buy chicks, not eggs
(I hope I'm wrong). Ugh!!!
