need help ASAP please

just got home with out first ever chicks. There is a prolbem with one of them she was acting different than the others just moveing different and pecking at her feet. she did have some poop stuck on her near her vent. DW has been reading lots and called it pasty but. She soffened it and wiped it off with a wet q-tip. After about two Hrs we found her laying on her side. when you pick her up she will perk up. She had been eating and driking. BTW she id a Barred Rock. Not sure how old we think 3 or 4 days

They sleep in all kinds of crazy ways like that when they are new. You did the right thing with the pasty butt. (it happens often in chicks) She's probably fine just tired.

A little sugar in their water wouldn't hurt the first few days, about a teaspoon per quart. You can also give them a minced scrambled egg. I find that often helps perk up a puny chick.

Hmm so if that is the case we have been doing the rong thing by picking her up when she is on her side. We were thinking we were keeping her alive. I added a roost in the brooder and she seems to be sleeping on a roost so we will just keep checking on her.
